What the heck is in a box???
VF Bi-Weekly or Monthly boxes are comprised of approximately 20% steaks/chops, 40% Roast, and 40% ground/stew. They will include Beef, Pork, and Lamb, with the specific cuts chosen by Adam and based on our harvesting schedule. And while we love all three meats, we understand that not everyone does. To accommodate these folks, we allow you to waive either lamb or pork for the period subscribed for. If you wish to waive beef, please contact Adam directly for pricing.
Steaks & Chops can be New Yorks, Flat Irons, Top Sirloin or Carne Asada, Lamb Loin Chops, Shoulder Chops and Leg Steaks, Pork Bone-in Loin Chops or Scallopini.
Roasts can be Beef Chuck or Pot Roasts, Short Ribs, Lamb Shoulder, Sirloin and Leg Roasts, Pork Butt, Hams, and Hocks.
Ground/Stew may be Beef, Lamb or Pork, and even Beef Fajita from time to time!
We always have our meat cut so that it is as easy as possible to portion. Steaks and Chops are usually either one or two pieces per package. For example the 5 lb. box might have two 8oz Top Sirloins or one 16oz NY. Roasts are packaged in approximately 2 lb. packages. So the 10 lb. box might have a 2 lb Chuck Roast and a 2 lb Pork Butt, or a 2 lb. Leg of Lamb and 2 lbs. of Beef Short Ribs. All our Ground Meats are packaged in 1 lb. packages. A 10 lb. box might have 2 lbs of ground beef, 1 lb of Ground Pork, and 1 lb of ground lamb. It might also have 1 lb of ground beef and 3 lbs of pork stew meat when we feature Chile Verde in our featured recipe!
Fresh and Frozen
One thing that separates Victorian Farmstead from our competition is our ability to provide the freshest, all natural meat to your family. We are the only CSA we know of that will include fresh (not yet frozen) meat in your box. We have found that the majority of our customers take home their box and put the contents directly in the freezer. To that end, the majority of the contents are frozen. If you come to get your box and would like one of the components fresh for that nights supper, just ask!
Add-ons
While our standard boxes are meant to provide you with weekly staples, we always have an ample supply of add-ons as well. These include whole chickens, sausages, and any other meats we have in stock that week…your 10% discount card will come in handy! For even greater savings, commit to add-on a whole chicken with each box and save $8-$10 dollars a bird. Our goal is to make all of our lives healthier, more convenient and budget friendly by planning ahead!
Another Add-On is our Breakfast Box…a dozen farm fresh eggs, one pound of bacon and on pound of sausage, all for $24/box! The best breakfasts you’ll ever have for the best price around!
Payments
As with most local retailers, we prefer payment by Cash or Check, however we do also accept Visa or Mastercard debit/credit cards. We do not accept American Express or Discover Card.
The VF Subscription Box is designed to be paid for in either 6 or 12 month subscriptions paid for at the beginning of the subscription. By paying for the subscription up front our subscribers enjoy as much as a 25% savings off our retail prices. By taking payment in advance we are able to plan our harvesting dates well in advance and thereby pass the savings on to you. There is also an option to pay Quarterly for an additional 10%, or even Monthly for a 15% fee. The frequency of payment affects our production and we therefore we offer an incentive to pay on an Annual/Bi-Annual basis.
We understand that a six or twelve month commitment is a long time…what about vacation? We take them, and so can you! Once every six month period you can take a ‘week off’ from your subscription. Just notify us two weeks ahead of time and we will suspend your VF box pick up for one week, adding a week on to the end of your subscription.
We also understand that we all sometimes over and/or under estimate things. To this end we will also accommodate one (1) downgrade to your subscription after the first month without penalty. We will simply extend your subscription based on your payment amount the appropriate number of weeks. You can upgrade any time you like

Chick-A-Week
Now you can choose to subscribe for just our signiture meat and get a farm fresh chicken every week! Our Chick-A-Week subscribers enjoy picking up their weekly birds at either the Chop Shop or at any of our Farmers Markets. On average, 3 out of four birds are delivered fresh and the other frozen. Each subscription includes one "vacation" per quarter that allows you to skip a week and add it to the end of your subscription. Oh, and they save a ton of money, too!

VF Custom Box
While we try to make sure and have a great variety of different cuts in our VF Subscription boxes, we understand that some of our customers want to choose exactly what goes into their box. We now offer the VF Custom Box. Our subscribers enjoy a 15% savings by prepaying for 6 or 12 months at a time. When they come to either the Chop Shop or one of our Farmers Markets to fill $50 or $100 box, they get $57.50 or $115 of anything we have available. This means they can choose $50 of Ground Beef (almost 8lbs), $50 of Filet (about a pound and a half) or anything in between! You can choose to set this box up weekly,bi-weekly or monthly.
